About
Brad Caldwell
An operator who reads a business like an investor — and an investor who has run the operation.
Chemical engineer · Six Sigma Master Black Belt · MBA, Rice University · Houston, Texas
Background
Brad Caldwell founded Four Lenses Advisory to bring together three things that usually live in different people: hands-on experience running industrial, energy, and manufacturing operations; the rigor of formal process engineering; and the perspective of an investor deciding where value is really created.
Brad is a chemical engineer and Six Sigma Master Black Belt with 30 years' experience in the petrochemical industry. His roles have included director for energy and carbon reporting, global variable-cost improvement, operations manager for a world-scale polymer production unit, technical manager, and a range of process and production engineering positions. He has lived and worked in both France and Germany.
Alongside that operating career, Brad has spent three decades as an active investor across public markets — equities, fixed income, options, and futures — and more recently in private equity. He isn't here to manage anyone's portfolio; that experience is a lens. Every engagement gets read the way a serious investor or buyer would read it, so the improvements you pursue are the ones that actually build enterprise value.
Credentials
- MBA — Rice University, 2024
- B.S., Chemical Engineering — Louisiana Tech University, 1995
- Six Sigma Master Black Belt — the senior practitioner level for leading complex improvement programs and developing other Black Belts
- Petrochemical operations leadership across the United States, France, and Germany
How the work gets done
- On the floor, not just in the deck. The constraint is usually where the work is.
- Numbers that reconcile. The operating story and the owner's story should describe the same business.
- Built to outlast the engagement. If the improvement needs an outside consultant to survive, it wasn't finished.
- Direct. Clients hire an outside perspective to hear what their team can't say out loud.
Why "Four Lenses"
Every business gets looked at through whichever lens its reviewer happens to carry — the engineer sees process, the banker sees the balance sheet, the founder sees the vision. Each is right and each is partial. Four Lenses Advisory makes all four views mandatory, then does the harder work of making them agree.
